My Teaching Philosophy
Teaching is the process of creating active learners. A teacher cannot force a student to learn. Instead, a teacher motivates and nurtures a desire to learn within a student. A teacher does this by getting to know students, by giving students choice, by encouraging collaborative learning and by using data to match learning to a student’s needs.
A Little Bit About Me
I am Mrs. Jennings, and I believe that I have the best job in the whole world. I am a 6th grade teacher at Fox Hills Elementary. I have a Master's Degree in Education and love to learn ways to be a better teacher. I also have a Math Endorsement and a Reading Endorsement, and I love to read and problem solve and to teach others to love these things too. I also have a Gifted Endorsement and feel honored to work with advanced learners.
When I am not teaching I am at home with my husband David and my dog Oliver. Oliver and I have a shared hobby called agility training. We basically run obstacle courses together with jumps, ramps, tunnels, etc. It keeps us busy and active. David and I enjoy cooking together and even more, eating together. In my own time I enjoy reading, having people over, watching way to much TV, and listening to culture podcasts. I am a little bit of a pop culture junkie, but I can also appreciate the finer things.
